Now I see a 1998 Porsche Boxster for sale, with a slightly leaky engine and a Balking automatic transmission for sale. I would like to have fun and buy it, but I cannot afford any more than about $1000 per year in maintenance costs. Also, my insurance on the Corolla is dirt cheap, and I don't want to pay that much more when I get the Boxster, i don't want any surprises. What do you think? For a person with very limited resources, Should I keep my trusty old Corolla, or get the Boxster?

Help with cancelling my car insurance, and selling my car.?

I have recently bought my first car and have decided that it is simply too expensive. Can someone give me advice on how to go about cancelling my insurance, taking it off the road and getting it sold. I realise that it's an offence to cancel the insurance and have the car on the road. I haven't yet received my new Registration Certificate as the registered keeper as I have had the car less than 4 weeks.

Why are my car insurance quotes so high (first car UK)?

OK, I passed my test last week so I've started looking at what cars to buy, and which ones have the cheapest insurance. I've tested lots of different comparison sites to get insurance quotes and most of them are around 4,000! To me that's strangely high for cars that are less than 1,000... The cars that I've had quotes for are Vauxhall Corsa's and Ford Fiestas, both 1.2L. A friend of mine insured a Golf 1.6 for 900 which was his first car, so I really don't get why my quotes are so different, especially as I'm looking at much cheaper cars. I've also tried using the sites that offer a telematics box which is meant to be considerably cheaper but it's still around the 4,000 mark for some reason. Is there any way I can get it cheaper without going onto my parents insurance?

So about a month and a half ago, someone kicked my car at night and left a big dent. I was stupid and called insurance and they gave me two options: fix the car or take a cash settlement. However, no matter what I do, my monthly insurance rate is going to go up even though it was not my fault. I think this is ridiculous and not worth it and I just want to cancel the claim. But I have been told that once a claim is put in, there's nothing you can do and once you hit three claims, your overall premium goes way up. What do I do? Should I just stop contacting the insurance company and after a while they have to close the claim? I wanted to sell the car this week but I guess that adds too many complications...

I'm pregnant with no insurance and don't qualify for medicaid.?

I just found out I am pregnant. I'm 18, and I want to be realistic about how I can do this. I do NOT have insurance, and I know for a fact that my mother makes too much money (that all goes to bills) for me to qualify for medicaid. We literally have nothing left over, and still struggle. So I would have to pay out of pocket.. but I have nothing to my name. Does any one notice that we shell out thousands of dollars from our income for car insurance, and the insurance company gives us nothing back? Sure, if we get into a car accident, they cover the costs, but then they raise your rate. And you are paying far more than the cost of the accident anyway. And then if you don't get into an accident, what is all that money for? They don't give it back. I just think its odd that we are required by law to pay for nothing, after we already have paid for the car. And then if you don't, you are penalized and punished, so you are given no choice. But really, you're paying all this money and getting nothing back. WTF
